Awards

Giving out awards during the year is an absolute pleasure for me. Receiving a Principal’s Award is a big deal and I have really enjoyed going into everyone's classes to hand them out. Their classmates have been really supportive too; always clapping and cheering as I shake hands with them!


Senior end of year events - our current plan remains the same as last week!

As I write this we are keeping the same plans as we had last week - let’s keep our fingers crossed!


COVID VACCINATION REGISTRATIONS FOR STUDENTS AND VOLUNTEERS


Students

We will be sending out an email asking you to complete a Google Form to ask if your child/children has had their first or second vaccine dose, or is exempted from being vaccinated. This includes providing proof of vaccination or exemption so we can add it to our register.


IT IS NOT MANDATED THAT A STUDENT HAS TO BE VACCINATED TO ATTEND SCHOOL

A reminder that we are collecting this information because if we were to have a case of COVID-19 in our school, public health authorities will want to know if we are a school with a high vaccination rate. This information will then be used as part of the local health authority’s risk assessment. The more highly vaccinated we are (staff and eligible students), the less likely it will be that we will have to close down for a long period of time, or we might not need to close at all, which is of course our preference.

If you need any more information contact the school by email or by phone. If you would like some support in filling out the form please call the school to talk to Kiri Russell our Kaitakawaenga (Home-School Partnership Promoter). She will be happy to help you!

All staff, volunteers and contractors

Everyone who works on site and may come into contact with students has to be vaccinated with one dose of the vaccine before the 15th November at 11.59pm and two doses by 1st January.

2021 Week 9, Term 1

Tēnā koutou katoa Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou Thank you to everyone who attended our junior parents evening on Thursday night. It was great to see so many of you there and meet a number of you too. Thanks to everyone who came up and introduced themselves to me. If you were not able to make the evening or still need to talk to one of our staff members please call the school office to make appointments. Community is one of our school values and on Saturday morning I went to the Westland Recreation Centre to watch the netball grading. It is a great example of our students and staff building strong, positive relationships in our community by working hard on the courts as well as coaching and managing teams. I know how much dedication and hard work coaching and managing teams takes, so thanks to all of you out there - staff, students and parents! In this short article I am going to outline the process of applying for my principal position, the interview process and my first term. In 2020 when both of our daughters were planning to leave home, one to university and one on Rotary Exchange, I began to seriously look for a principal position outside of our area in the Waikato. I wanted to go to a school which aligned with my values; somewhere who welcomed and was successful for all rangatahi in the community and where equity and excellence went hand in hand.
